Occupational therapy play vital role for maintaining daily life activity in special child.

Occupational therapist works with child having Autism, Cerebral palsy, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Developmental Delay, Sensory processing disorders, child having sensory issues and other congenital and neurological conditions.

Occupational therapy uses different treatment approaches to create a individualised and evidence based treatment plan. There are many approaches nut among them widely used approaches are:

1) SENSORY INTEGRATION THERAPY: this is for individual with sensory processing disorders. We use environmental modification, sensory based activities like (swing, brushing, etc), play based intervention in Sensory Integration therapy

2) NEURODEVELOPMENTAL THERAPY/ DEVELOPMENTAL THERAPY: It helps the individual with neurological deficits/ developmental challenges. Its helpful in down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc. We use handling technique, positioning, relaxation and stimulating technique in intervention,

3) COGNITIVE BASED THERAPY: it is a psychotherapeutic approach for various anxiety disorders, depressive disorders cases in child with special needs. It helps them to deal with their situation and integrate them in society.

Other than these handwriting evaluation training, behavioural therapy, etc techniques are used.

All these approaches are intervene in holistic manner for treatment.
